Natures abstracts abound in even the smallest of details. A Monarch Butterfly's wings have the tiniest of design that make up a lovely beautiful abstract. The Monarch Butterfly loves to lay eggs in Milkweed, in fact, it is the only host plant that they lay eggs. Once again, due to pesticides and chemicals, this native plant is not at the levels it once was resulting in less plants for the Monarch to host their eggs. Yet, there is a solution - stop using harmful pesticides and chemicals (you will feel better too:) and we can plant more milkweed:) There are over 100 varieties of milkweed. Some of the more common ones that the Monarch like are Tropical, Swamp, Purple, Common, Showy, and Giant Swan Milkweed. The Monarch may host in the Butterfly Weed, yet it is not their preferred choice.
So next time you are planting flowers, think about the Milkweed - looks great, a native plant, and hosts eggs for the lovely Monarch Butterfly.
