Description
The flag of the United States of America is sometimes called Old Glory. William Driver, a 19th century American sea captain, is the originator of the nickname. He carried a American flag with him when he ran away from home to start his sea journey. His first job was as a cabin boy. Yet, he soon became known as the American Seaman due to the American Flag flying on his ship to places he went like Gibraltar, Chine, South Pacific and India.
"And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!"
