Description
The magnitude and majestic outstretched wings of this Barred Owl are awe-inspiring. The precision of the flight between trees and tree branches is every pilots dream to accomplish this type of flight precision! The silence this bird of prey has with flight is another important feature to allow them to sneak up on their prey. Fossils of the Barred Owl have been found dating back over 11,000 years. This lovely bird of prey stays in the same general area, typically not moving more than 6 miles away.
Owls are great at keeping the rodent population down. So the next time you want to buy that rat poison, think about an owl nest instead. The affect of using rat poison has now also decreased the population of owls. Specifically, the Barn owls (different than the Barred Owl, yet I would image this is for any owl) because the mother owl eats a rodent that has been poisoned, yet not dead, takes it back to the nest to feed the young and WAH-BAM! entire brood of baby Owls dead too. So next time you are at the store for poison, consider an Owl Nest Box.

Magnificent bird and photo! In the text you thoughtfully remind viewers of the harm that rat poison causes to birds of prey. Thank you!
